Bidadari Park
Newly opened on 3 September 2024, Bidadari Park is a key part of the estate’s “A Community in a Garden” vision, reflecting Singapore’s vision to harmonise nature with urban living. Spanning 13 hectares, the park blends green spaces with features that meet the community's needs.
At its heart is Adventure Playwoods, an imaginative playground with bird nest-like structures and slides for children to explore nature. Nearby, Tembusu and Open Lawns offer spaces for community events and family relaxation, reinforcing the estate’s vision of fostering strong communal ties amidst a lush environment.
The park also integrates sustainable water management, being part of the PUB’s Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC) Waters Programme. Alkaff Lake, inspired by the former Alkaff Gardens, serves as both a scenic feature and a stormwater retention pond, holding up to 40,000 cubic meters of water to prevent flooding. By capturing runoff and preventing floods, the lake embodies the innovative flood management solutions that align with Bidadari’s sustainable living ethos. In dry weather, visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls around the lake, while a high-tech warning system ensures safety during storms by automatically monitoring water levels.
Two marshlands also serve as natural flood management systems while enhancing the area’s biodiversity. The upper marshland forms only after heavy rains, offering temporary refuge for amphibians and water-dependent birds, while the lower marshland (pictured here) is a permanent aquatic habitat. A boardwalk winds through the marshes, inviting visitors to experience these thriving ecosystems up close.
The Bidadari Park has been sensitively enhanced for migratory birds by preserving mature trees for roosting, and carefully designing its pathways and observation areas to minimise disturbance, allowing visitors to enjoy bird-watching while ensuring a safe, undisturbed stopover for migratory birds along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway.
In contributing to both ecological conservation and community well-being, Bidadari Park plays an essential role in Singapore's transformation into a City in Nature. By creating spaces where nature, water management, and urban life coexist, the park exemplifies the city's vision of a greener, more sustainable future.
